Description of Species Deciduous, woody plants, upto 5 m tall,branches glabrous. Leaves broadly elliptic, obtuse or shortly acuminate, entire or crenate, glabrescent. Lateral nerves 8 – 12 pairs; petiolate; stipules subulate, minurte, caducous. Flowers green, in dense clusters from the axils of fallen leaves. Calyx 5 lobed lobes ovate oblong, gland dotted, persistent. Stamens 8. Carpels 3, connate into unilocular, superior ovary .ovules few to many . Style short; stigma capitate. Capsule ellipsoid, ribbed, orange yellow when ripe. Seeds bright red, arillate.
