Description of Species Prickly, woody shrub, with simple gland – tipped hairs; prickles long, straight, slender, subulate, yellow or reddish yellow. Leaves oblong, pinnatifid or 2 – pinnatifid, prickly, lobes acute, sinuate – dentate. Peduncles extra axillary and teminal, many flowered. Flowers white or light violet. Clayx 5 – partite, tube inflated in fruit, deeply cupshaped, ultimately reflexed; lobes sparingly armed. Corolla slightly hirsute externally, white or violet. Fruit a berry subglobose, glabrous, dark red; seeds orbicular to ovate, petted. Leaf Details Leaves oblong, pinnatifid or 2 – pinnatifid, prickly, lobes acute, sinuate – dentate.
