Description of Species Shrubs, to 3 m high, with smooth brownish bark. Leaves opposite, elliptic – ovate, base tapering, acute or acuminate, coriaceous – leathery, lateral nerves 10 – 16 pairs; stipules united into a sheath. Flowers white. fragrant, in lax trichotomous, pedunculate cumes; Calyx with short teeth. Corolla tube long, slender; lobes 4, oblong, spreading, recurved. Stamens 4, on the mouth of corolla tube. Ovary 2 – celled; style filiform; stigma fusiform. Fruits globose, green and turns black when ripe, with 2 – nutlets..
