Description of Species Deciduous trees up to 10 m high. Leaves 2 (3) pinnate, leaflets 3 – 11, subopposite, ovate lanceolate, acuminate. Flowers lilac – blue, sweet scented, in branched clusters of loose panicles. Calyx 5 – fid, oblong – lanceolate. Petals shortly ciliate, linear to spathulate. Staminal column purple. Ovary 5 – celled, glabrous. Fruit a drupes yellow and plump when ripe, globose or ellipsoid, wrinkled in the later stages, 5 – seeded or less by abortion.
