Description of Species An erect, glaucous shrub, up to 1.5 m tall. Stem terete, bark smooth. Leaves perfoliate, alternate, coriaceous, basal ones ovate, those at upper nodes orbiculate, margins undulate, apex acute, obtuse or emarginated, often apiculate, midvien prominent. Flowers reddish-pink, in panicled spikes, calyx tubular winged between 5 strong ribs; teeth 5, lanceolate, acute. Corolla tube cylindric; lobes ovate-oblong, emarginate-apiculate. Stamens somewhat exserted. Style filiform, hairy at base, stigmatic branches 5, stigmatose throughout. Fruit a capsule, included in the calyx.
