Description of Species Tree up to 25 m, bark smooth light gray. Leaves segments inserted (pinnate) on rachis in several ranks at divergent angles, leaf appearing like feather. Inflorescences panicle. Flowers white. Fruits ripening from green through red to purplish black at maturity. Leaf Details he crownshaft looks really smooth green. The trunk of the Royal Palm is swollen at the base. It constricts about halfway up and then bulges again just below the crownshaft creating a dramatic profile. The trunk is a smooth light gray that looks as if it had been cast from concrete.
