Description of Species Subdeciduous rambling climbers, up to 15 m tall; bark brown, rough, exfoliating in papery pieces, armed with woody, recurved prickles; young twigs and branches grey – green; stipules adnate to the petiole, linear, glandular. Leaves imparipinnate; rachis with prickles on the lower surface; leaflets 5 – 9, ovate – lanceolate, serrate, tip acuminate, terminal one larger, glabrous. Flowers white, in large axillary or terminal corymbs. Calyx lobes lanceolate, acuminate, reflexed in flowers, caducous. Petals 5, obovate, with distinct tip. Stamens yellow, much shorter than petals. Fruits orange – red to brown, ovoid, viscid, many – seeded. Leaf Details Leaves imparipinnate; rachis with prickles on the lower surface; leaflets 5 – 9, ovate – lanceolate, serrate, tip acuminate, terminal one larger, glabrous.
