Description of Species A medium-sized deciduous tree with light grey bark; young parts grey or fulvous tomentose. Leaves 3-7 in. long, broadly ovate, obtuse, hard when mature, 3-5 nerved, cordate at the base, upper surface pubescent when young, rough and shining and usually covered with white cystolith disks when mature, undersurface grey or brown pubescent or tomentose. Flowers white about .5 in. across, polygamous, subsessile, in dense terminal and axillary, tomentose paniculate cymes, which are 2-4 in. across. Calyx ribbed, tomentose outside. Corolla tube about as long as the calyx-tube. Stamens exserted. Drupe 0.5-0.75 in. long, ovoid, acute seated on cup-shaped ribbed calyx.
